| Police Warn of Rapes After Online Sex Postings
After a rash of rapes in the Temple Hills and Suitland areas, police are warning women to be careful on online singles sites and online communities. At least six rapes have been reported in the last few months in those areas, some after women posted ads on Craigslist looking for sex. In the most recent sexual assault on February 19th, police say they responded to the 9100 block of Baltimore Avenue for reports of a rape in Suitland. The victim said she met the suspect on a chat line and agreed to meet with him. When the victim met the suspect, he showed a handgun and raped her in the building stairwell. Major Dan Dusseau, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division, said, "We want to alert women who are soliciting for sex online to use caution.
Office romances: Is love a cubicle away?
Plenty of people spend valuable time browsing chat rooms and Web sites in search of love. Visiting a popular night spot is another way singles can meet the perfect mate. Then there's meeting your significant other in the cubicle across from you. It makes sense. Working together often translates into sharing the same interests, and there's ample time to get acquainted during coffee breaks. As a supervisor for a telemarketing company in Tahlequah, Stephanie Lee once dated an employee. "It was a casual relationship," Lee, 29, said. "Co-workers knew we were together, but we didn't go around kissing each other in front of everyone." She said her boyfriend had grown on her over time and that the two had been friends before intensifying their relationship.
Israel Jewish Singles Dating Site Expands
It's unclear how many couples have met and married via the Internet, but experts agree that a boom in Websites catering to Jewish singles has broadened the relatively narrow opportunities open to them, especially those in small communities, or without any community at all. Virtual mating rituals reflect real world changes. In addition to those in their 20's and 30's, there now are hundreds of Israel Jewish singles over 40 using their keyboards to meet their next match.
Sentinel Lunchtime Blog (Valentine's Day Edition): The laws of love online
It's been a while since one of my singles blogs have been written and posted. Those of you out there who actually read these things may have wondered if I'd stopped writing because I'm no longer single. Sadly, that's not the case.Today is Valentine's Day and I, like many others, am single. If it weren't for writing this blog, I would have conveniently "forgotten" today was the day of love, flowers, candy and candlelight. However, while perusing stories from the Associated Press, I came across a relationships article detailing a new law in New Jersey requiring online dating sites to perform background checks on its users. As an alum of online dating, my interest was piqued. My first thought was, well, that's a good idea — Internet dating can be dangerous. Then I got to thinking and realized, as the article points out, background checks are pointless in the world of dating.Think about it.
NORM: Critic scoffs at LV in Michelin guide
There's some anticipated fallout over the Michelin Guide's first-ever inclusion of Las Vegas restaurants. Prominent food critic John Mariani of Esquire magazine questions whether the Las Vegas culinary scene deserves a guide ahead of Chicago, Boston or Washington. The Las Vegas restaurant sector, he said, "is, obviously, booming" but lacks the depth and breadth found in other American cities. Mariani said he posed the question to Jean-Luc Naret, director of the Michelin Guides. .

FL was 55% Bush in 2004. Maybe many older Americans want liberal hand outs so it makes sense that McCain is their man. When you have limited income you pay very little tax so that is not a priority. Maximum freebees (that many never paid enough into to deserve) are the priority. Never mind if these programs (existing and future proposals) are economically unfeasible and would undermine good medical practices to a cattle trough socialist system. What happened to a FREE society? I hope the other states put McCain behind again. Less than 2M FL REP votes have such an influence is crazy. Why don't they debate all the issues fairly w/ many candidates. Then have primaries on the same day accross the country. That way you vote your mind and don't have to factor in who may win or not win...

Understrength Hornets crash out of Cup
Mackay, under pressure from Bothroyd, stumbled as he sought to head clear and the ball bounced through to Keogh, who, from 20 yards out, produced a delightful right-footed lob that gave Richard Lee little chance to make it 1-0. Watford's first opening came three minutes later when the ball broke to Jobi McAnuff and he drove inside off the left flank but flashed a right-footed attempt from the edge of the area well wide. But the Hornets could have found themselves two down in the 15th minute when Neil Collins found Jarvis in far too much space down the left, and the former Gillingham wide-man surged into the area before cutting the ball back to Bothroyd, but he placed his shot too close to Lee. Within two minutes though, Watford were so nearly back on terms.
