She got back on her feet in 2002 with the modestly successful Charmbracelet and came back strongly in 2005 with The Emancipation Of Mimi. This is the second week in a row that six albums debut in the top 10. In addition to the Eagles, Spears, and Josh Turner, this week's new Top 10 entries are hard rock band Avenged Sevenfold's eponymous fourth album, which opens at #4, the Backstreet Boys' fifth studio album Unbreakable, which debuts at #7 and operatic tenor Andrea Bocelli's The Best Of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere, which starts at #9. The Backstreet Boys' I>Unbreakable debuts with sales of 81,000. That's down sharply from the group's last album, Never Gone, which opened with sales of 291,000 in June 2005. It's a little hard to imagine now, but the group was once the hottest recording act in America.

Organisers of the Belgian one-day semi-classic Nokere Koerse have announced a record-breaking field for the event taking place on March 19, starting in Oudenaarde. The UCI cat. 1.1 race will see a total of six ProTour teams lining up: Quick Step-Innergetic, Silence-Lotto, Crdit Agricole, Franaise des Jeux, Rabobank and Team High Road. "It's an unbelievable record," said Marc Van Cauwenberghe, chairman of the organising committee. "We already had four, then five ProTour teams at the start, but now six teams of this category will find their way to the small Nokere. For me, this is a real accomplishment; even more so for this small community of only 700 souls. On top of that, six Professional Continental teams have entered the race, for a total of 23 squads on our list of participants." The 63rd Nokere Koerse will depart on the market place in Oudenaarde.
Transcript of Frankie Darcell's interview with the mayor
They're constantly, and I want the public to see this, trying to dismantle me in front of you. And then they used to call this -- I can't say the word, what they called this at the Shrine of the Black Madonna, but I was in church, you know, with my wife, which is beyond the point. It's a whole thing now of say anything -- you just had an experience here. MS. DARCELL: Yeah, I did. I did. We did allow an interview right before -- I don't know, it had to be about 12:00 o'clock, Greg, maybe about 12:00 o'clock, and at 12:05 they were suggesting on the air that we did not give them that access. That was absolutely not the truth. We did give access. And this has been a very overwhelming situation. This is not my interview, but it's been a very overwhelming situation to try to accommodate a number of people.

Online Dating's Security Complex
All is not lovey-dovey in the high-stakes online dating industry. The contentious issue of the moment — pitting one of the three biggest companies, True.com, against its major rivals — is whether online dating services can enhance their clients' safety by conducting criminal background screenings of would-be daters. Last month, New Jersey became the first state to enact a law requiring the sites to disclose whether they perform background checks. True.com — the only large online dating service that already does such screenings — was elated by its successful lobbying and hopes other states will follow suit. .

Electronic Arts wants to use a simulated city game to promote actual learning in third-world countries. The publisher today announced that it is donating the 1989 city-building classic SimCity to the nonprofit group One Laptop per Child (OLPC). The game is currently free to play online via EA's Web site. OLPC attempts to get durable, affordable computers into the hands of underprivileged children. Stating that there are 2 billion children in the developing world, the OLPC mission statement says it is "providing a means to an end--an end that sees children in even the most remote regions of the globe being given the opportunity to tap into their own potential, to be exposed to a whole world of ideas, and to contribute to a more productive and saner world community." "By gifting SimCity onto each OLPC laptop, EA is providing users with an entertaining way to engage with computers as well as help develop decision-making skills while honing creativity," the company said.
Purposely single
At 57, winemaker Bill Gulvin has never been married and has no such plans in the works. He's not a mama's boy or a playboy. Instead, the Columbia, Pa., resident calls himself a "realist" for remaining single."There aren't many really compelling reasons to get married anymore," Gulvin says.A lot of attention gets paid to single women, who can cheer themselves with chick flicks, self-help books and shows like "Sex and the City," which aim to empower female consumers to think of singledom as independence or self-reliance.But men can be single and fabulous, too. While single women have seemingly banded together to change their image in the popular culture, there's been no such battle cry for men, who have a whole different set of stereotypes to fight: They're confirmed bachelors, James Bond-style playboys, cranky old men or gay.None of this is helped by the fact that married men live longer, or by the common notion that men need a woman's touch to perform household tasks like cooking, decorating or doing their laundry. But some proud, single men say they're better off alone."A man is a sperm bank, a meal ticket, a handyman and an early retirement plan," Gulvin says.
